Parent, Baby and Toddler Sessions
We enjoyed welcoming our younger families back to school this month for our parent, baby and toddler sessions. These sessions are a great opportunity to meet other parents with children of a similar age, as well as talk to professionals around a range of topics.
Children's Mental Health Week
We participated in Children's Mental Health Week, with the theme this year being 'This is my place.' Across the school, the children completed activities considering where they felt they belonged and all took part in a class art project, combining everyone's individual interests into one large collaborative class piece. Key Stage 2 were also joined by Harriet, from Swindon BeU, who led an assembly for us.
Internet Safety Day
With children now spending so much time online, and it being so freely available to them, we felt it was important to participate in Internet Safety Day. Each class spent time looking at AI and how it is used, before parents and carers attended a workshop with Mrs Lawrence, and a visit into classes to see the work that had been completed.

Language Ambassadors
This month we have launched our language ambassadors campaign across Key Stage 2. At Even Swindon, we celebrate the diverse range of cultures our children come from and are always amazed at the number of our pupils who can speak multiple languages. Our Key Stage 2 ambassadors are available to support our younger children who are still developing their language, or any new pupil across the school, for whom English may not be their first language, to allow them to speak and communicate in a language that feels comfortable and accessible for them. Thank you language ambassadors!
Bikeability
Our Year 4 and Year 6 pupils had the chance to participate in Bikeability this term, giving them skills to develop their confidence when cycling around Swindon.
Christmas
All things Christmas have launched at Even Swindon this month! We have loved watching nativity performances from Nursery and Year 2, as well as carol concerts from Reception, Year 1, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5. We were left buzzing after our PTA put on a fantastic Christmas fete, and kitchen team put on an outstanding spread for Christmas lunch and we danced, played and feasted at our Christmas parties. We were so lucky to even have a special visitor join us for the day at the end of term!

Remembrance
We gathered as a school community for a reflective moment of remembrance. Children from Reception to Year 5 stood for two minutes silence, accompanied by one of our parents playing The Last Post. Year 6 pupils represented the school at St Augustine's Church.
Children In Need
On a wet and gloomy day, we brightened our spirits by participating in Children In Need's Challenge 25, where each class completed an exercise challenge for 25 minutes. The children were sponsored to help raise money, and what an incredible effort it was! In total, we raised £3,455.48!
Christmas Shoebox Appeal
This year we have supported House of Opportunities Christmas Shoebox Appeal to help send Christmas gifts to those who are struggling in Eastern Europe. In total, we sent 35 Christmas shoeboxes to help those in need.
Road Safety Week
As a whole school, we took part in Road Safety Week, reviewing how to keep ourselves safe on the roads and in the car. We all rehearsed the Green Cross Code and looked at the importance of seatbelts when travelling in vehicles.

October
What a great success for our first parent, baby and toddler session here at Even Swindon. It was lovely to see so many families joining us at school. Lots of fun activities and families making new friends. Look out for the next date here on our Facebook page.
Thank you so much for all your generous donations supporting Swindon Food Collective as part of our Harvest celebrations. We have sent 16 crates of food to the charity, helping to support families across Swindon.
Black History Month
This year, each year group took a different area to learn about a significant person from the past and present, how their lives were similar or different and their contribution to society. We ended our term by celebrating all of the different cultures that we have in our school, sharing clothing and accessories proudly.
Diwali
Thank you so much to some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils, who led an assembly for the whole school about Diwali. The children shared their own experiences of what Diwali meant to them, sharing how they celebrate and why it is important to them.
